"

Millennium Fellowship Project: BringASmile Initiative

The rapid digitization of everyday tasks has highlighted a stark digital divide, particularly among blue-collar workers who often face barriers to accessing digital tools and online resources. Limited knowledge of essential digital skills can inhibit these individuals' ability to leverage technology for personal and professional development. Recognizing this gap, the BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus Millennium Fellowship cohort partnered with SmartLife, a dedicated local NGO, to address these challenges through targeted educational workshops.

The motivation behind this initiative stemmed from the realization that the digital world offers numerous opportunities that remain inaccessible to many due to lack of basic training. During conversations with community leaders and through surveys conducted by SmartLife, it became evident that a significant portion of the labour force expressed interest in learning how to navigate digital platforms but had limited means to do so. The cohort believed that equipping these workers with digital skills could bridge this knowledge gap, empowering them to engage more confidently with technology and improve their quality of life.
