Millennium Fellowship Project: Naija Climate Health
Naija Climate Health: Empowering Schools and Communities for a Resilient Future
The purpose of this project is to address the impact of climate change on health in Nigeria by fostering awareness and initiating sustainable actions in schools and communities. Climate change poses significant health risks, including heat stress, water-borne diseases, and vector-borne diseases. This project seeks to educate and empower schools and communities to take action against climate-related health issues. We will promote sustainable practices like reforestation, eco-friendly habits, and climate-resilient livelihoods to reduce the burden of climate-related diseases and promote overall health and wellness. By targeting school children and community leaders, we aim to increase awareness and adoption of sustainable practices, ultimately reducing the disease burden and promoting a healthier futureĀ forĀ Nigerians.
About the Millennium Fellow
Gloria Awodiran Ifeoluwa is a 500-level law student at Bowen University, born in Oyo State, Nigeria. She is passionate about education, climate actions, health, and community development, driven by a desire to make a positive impact and create a sustainable future.
The Lead Conference 2022 served as a catalyst, sparking Gloria's interest in climate actions, recycling, and sustainability. Inspired by Temi Olanrewaju (TheGlobalTemi) and her climate action work, as well as Adejoke Lasisi's innovative recycling initiatives. Although she may not have extensive experience in these areas, Gloria is an avid learner. Her first project in circularity and sustainability is the one submitted in her MCN application. The motivation to pursue a career in this field stems from the inspiring individuals she met at The Lead Conference 2022, embodying Tunde Onakoya's words: "You can do great things from a small place."
