Millennium Fellowship Project: The ThalaSafety Drive

The ThalaSafety Drive team- Debosmita Dey, Subhadeep Chowdhury, Adiba Mubashera Hossain, Tasfia Rehnuma Oritri is on a dedicated mission to protect lives through the prevention of thalassemia, a potentially fatal disease. With a goal of raising awareness, a voyage has been embarked upon to educate the public about thalassemia and foster connections between affected individuals and healthy communities. As part of the project’s expansion, several hospitals and foundations were visited by the ThalaSafety Drive team, the patients and their families were interviewed as a part of the campaign. These conversations have underscored the urgent need for our prevention program. Through our campaign, we hope to give people the chance to witness the struggles and sufferings of the thalassemia patients and to connect with them on an emotional level. Our ultimate goal is to foster a sense of collective responsibility and compassion, motivating others to join us in preventing this devastating disease. We have done an awareness seminar at our own university campus and also held a thalassemia screening test for the students at a nominal cost.
