" I'm thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow because it allows me to collaborate with others who are equally passionate about creating social change. Having seen children facing educational challenges, I know the importance of opportunity. My work with rural children, which combines education and nutrition, is my way of giving back and ensuring no child is left behind. The Fellowship will help me expand this impact, learn from others, and refine strategies to empower more communities. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Nourish & Learn Initiative

The Nourish & Learn Initiative began with a simple observation: too many children in rural Bangladesh face struggles that no child should endure. When I visited their schools, I saw children sitting on bare floors in classrooms with broken walls, holding onto a single pencil as if it were their most precious possession. Some came to school on an empty stomach, their hunger making it hard to focus or stay awake during lessons.
For many of these children, education feels like an impossible dream. Their families can’t afford to provide school supplies, and the schools themselves lack the resources to support their learning. At the same time, a lack of nutritious meals leaves them physically weak, unable to keep up with the demands of the day. Yet, despite all of this, these children show up—hopeful, determined, and eager to learn.
That’s where the Nourish & Learn Initiative comes in. It’s a simple but powerful idea: provide children with the basic things they need to succeed. A nutritious meal so they can focus and stay healthy. Books, pencils, and tutoring support so they can thrive academically. These aren’t luxuries, they’re lifelines for children who just need a fair chance to reach their potential.
The impact has been heartwarming. I’ve seen more children staying in school, their faces lighting up when they understand a new lesson or when they get a full meal. Parents feel hopeful, knowing their kids are getting a better shot at life.
Right now, I’m working on this project alone, but I dream of building a team to expand it further. I want to reach more schools, more children, and more communities because no child should have to choose between food and education.
The Nourish & Learn Initiative isn’t just a project, it’s a promise. A promise to give every child the tools they need to dream big and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.
