" I am passionate about widening the perspective of what a physician's role can be—not just as a healer, but as a global activist. I hope to inspire future physicians to always be interdisciplinary and globally-minded students. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: DEIS: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and STEM

Through the Millennium Fellowship, I will strive to integrate a DEI lens to the traditional pre-health training. Through the DEIS project, I will focus on integrating humanities electives that teach the history of medical biases; adding greater representation and discussions of identity into the medical education curriculum; and equipping physicians with the skills to advocate for their patients on an individual and systemic level. Lastly, I hope the DEIS project will create an intergenerational community of physician-activists who continue to share knowledge, community, and joy.

About the Millennium Fellow

Jacqueline Lee is a student at Brown University in Providence, RI, USA, studying Applied Mathematics and International and Public Affairs. As an aspiring physician, she is passionate about not only learning the science behind diseases but also understanding the historical and systemic disparities that influence the healthcare industry. As a Millennium Fellow, Jackie hopes to work within the medical education sphere to increase awareness of bias in the healthcare field and equip physicians with the skills to become activists and advocates.
