Millennium Fellowship Project: Be a First Aider to be a Life Saver
As part of the MELLINUM Fellowship, our team focused on addressing Sustainable Development Goal #11, which aims to create sustainable cities and communities. Our initiative, Be a First Aider, Be a Life Saver, sought to empower young individuals in Pakistan by equipping them with essential first aid skills, thereby enabling them to respond effectively to emergencies and contribute to the well-being of their communities.
The project began with a comprehensive online first aid training program, designed to ensure wide accessibility and flexibility for participants across various regions. To complement the online learning, we partnered with Rescue 1122 Pakistan to provide in-person, hands-on training. This collaborative approach enabled participants to gain practical, life-saving skills that are critical in emergency situations, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
Throughout the course of the fellowship, we successfully trained one batch of nearly 400 young individuals, who are now equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a tangible impact in their communities. The project has continued to grow and evolve beyond the fellowship, with ongoing efforts to expand its reach and further strengthen the capacity of young people to contribute to building safer, more resilient communities.
