Millennium Fellowship Project: Climate Change and Global Citizenship Education
Project Description: Climate Change Awareness through Global Citizenship Education (GCED)
The project, titled “Climate Change Awareness through Global Citizenship Education,” is an initiative by Muhammad Shahzad Latif and Nadeem Sarwar, students of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan, in collaboration with the Help for Human organization. The project targets vulnerable communities, including children from Sweet Home shelters and flood-affected areas, to foster awareness and understanding of climate change and global citizenship.
This project integrates Global Citizenship Education (GCED) principles, aiming to empower children with knowledge about the impacts of climate change while encouraging active participation in sustainable solutions. The project involves interactive workshops, educational activities, and creative sessions where children learn about environmental conservation, disaster preparedness, and their roles as global citizens.
Key activities include:
1. Awareness Workshops.
2. Tree Planting Drives.
3. Art and Storytelling.
By empowering these young minds, the project not only addresses climate change awareness but also instills values of empathy, responsibility, and proactive citizenship, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The initiative demonstrates the potential of collaborative efforts in bridging education, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility, reflecting the spirit of the Millennium Fellowship 2024.
