" "Being engaged with a global community of ambitious leaders through the Millennium Fellowship not only inspires me to go beyond my limits, but also helps me reach these new horizons. I am excited about the opportunity to enhance my skills and use them to make the world better." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Fighting Fake News
In the modern world, with advancing technological innovations and increased accessibility to media platforms, the options for seeking necessary sources have grown proportionally. However, it is extremely challenging to identify sources that are valid, relevant, and, most importantly, truthful. Our project, titled Fighting Fake News and Disinformation, aims to equip high school students with the necessary skills to detect fake information, identify credible sources, and advocate for just and fair political institutions, particularly during election periods.
About the Millennium Fellow
Matej Cacik is a scholar interested in hybrid warfare, politics and languages. Passionate about defending the truth and integrity, he founded an NGO fighting fake news at the age of 18 in his home country, Slovakia. His academic journey has taken him from the US, through China to Austria, where he currently pursues a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and hopes to use these skills as a politician or a diplomat in the UN one day. Outside of academics, he loves making spontaneous memories with friends and his dream is to one day travel to Vietnam.
