" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it provides a platform to amplify voices that are often unheard. I believe in using my work and understanding to empower women, and this fellowship will allow me to drive meaningful conversations and create lasting social impact. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Matrika

Project Matrika was a very personal project to me as it helped solve issues regarding women and girl children dealing with taboo topics like sex and menstrual hygiene, which I have seen happening since I was younger. I made it my mission to go around helping women have more open conversations about their own sexual health and menstrual health. My main concern is that most girls don't get a proper education regarding this in their schools, especially in remote areas, and as it is such a taboo, even their mothers don't have conversations on such topics. Helping women understand that these are necessary conversations and helping them stop that generational trauma and actually bring out more conversations are very necessary. As rightfully said, one educated person can educate the whole home, which stands true, especially during out conversations on our private parts and being aware of our own personal autonomy because mothers understood that this is something that should be talked about and not something that should be covered over.
