" “Jugaad” in Hindi, roughly translated to “improvised contraption,” is something I am really good at; in other words, it is about being creative while facing constraints and finding a solution to a specific problem. I believe solving global issues, combining needs with the limited availability of resources, pushes us to be creative beyond our imagination. A very daunting challenge, something bigger than myself, with major constraints such as funding, manpower, having the right systems in place, and measuring net impact, really attracts me, knowing there is a tangible outcome that benefits many lives. Though I believe in the power of individual action, nothing beats collective effort. Being a Millennium Fellow gives me a platform to connect with highly motivated, intelligent, socially sensitive individuals and a space that allows me to explore myself, excel in fields I did not know existed, and impact the world for the better.
