Millennium Fellowship Project: Mentorship And Social Corporate Responsibility
The Pad Drive Initiative, conducted from September to mid-November, 2024 as part of
the
Millennium Fellowship program, was designed to address the pressing issue of
menstrual hygiene
among schoolgirls in Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya. Menstrual health management is a
significant
barrier to education and personal development for many girls in the region. This
project sought to alleviate these challenges by providing menstrual hygiene products and education,
empowering
300 girls at local schools around. By addressing this fundamental need, the initiative
aimed to
reduce absenteeism, foster confidence, and promote gender equity within the school
environment.
The success of this initiative reflects the dedication to advancing the United Nations'
Sustainable
Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and Goal 5
(Gender
Equality).
About the Millennium Fellow
Amos Nyamai is an accomplished leader and computer science student at Chuka University in Kenya. With a strong foundation in technology, Amos has leveraged his skills to drive impactful initiatives both locally and globally. His leadership roles in AIESEC, a renowned international youth organization, have seen him successfully manage diverse programs and events, fostering cross-cultural understanding and youth empowerment. Born and educated in Kenya, Amos has actively engaged with international communities, championing positive societal change. A passionate global citizen, he is committed to making a lasting impact on the world through innovation and social action.
