" Humility, creativity and inclusivity are my personal principles and so when I say the same in Millennium, I was extremely delighted. I believe in sharing ideas whereby you accommodate other people's views while still holding onto yours and I believe that's what Millennium Fellowship is all about. The fact that I would be meeting with people who are very enthusiastic about making society better is also thrilling for me. I would give anything to work with millennials. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Mentorship And Social Corporate Responsibility

The Pad Drive Initiative, conducted from September to mid-November, 2024 as part of
the
Millennium Fellowship program, was designed to address the pressing issue of
menstrual hygiene
among schoolgirls in Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya. Menstrual health management is a
significant
barrier to education and personal development for many girls in the region. This
project sought to alleviate these challenges by providing menstrual hygiene products and education,
empowering
300 girls at local schools around. By addressing this fundamental need, the initiative
aimed to
reduce absenteeism, foster confidence, and promote gender equity within the school
environment.
The success of this initiative reflects the dedication to advancing the United Nations'
Sustainable
Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and Goal 5
(Gender
Equality).

About the Millennium Fellow

Audrey Mulaa is a student from the Chuka university pursuing a degree in law. She is the fifth born and last born of late Mr and Mrs Mulaa. Having two sister who never graduated from the University due to one reason or another, Mulaa has always had passion and determination to change the narrative. This is also influenced by the fact that only two out of ten of the girls in her community made it to the university. So its safe to say that education for girls in her community is a privilege not a right. After securing a place in the university, Mulaa decided that she would return to her village and encourage them to educate girls and also show girls the meaning of hardwork and how its impactful.
