" I believe being a millennium fellow will provide me with a platform to put my ideas into implementation. Interacting with other fellows will also widen my scope and I'll get to learn and be a greater champion of social impact. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Mentorship And Social Corporate Responsibility

The Pad Drive Initiative, conducted from September to mid-November, 2024 as part of
the
Millennium Fellowship program, was designed to address the pressing issue of
menstrual hygiene
among schoolgirls in Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya. Menstrual health management is a
significant
barrier to education and personal development for many girls in the region. This
project sought to alleviate these challenges by providing menstrual hygiene products and education,
empowering
300 girls at local schools around. By addressing this fundamental need, the initiative
aimed to
reduce absenteeism, foster confidence, and promote gender equity within the school
environment.
The success of this initiative reflects the dedication to advancing the United Nations'
Sustainable
Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and Goal 5
(Gender
Equality).
