" “I would love to not just make a positive net impact on the world, but leave an impact that is significant. At the moment, my projects and prior experiences may be more local, but my desire is to help improve the livelihoods of people globally. While I know this sounds ambitious, everything starts small and with the right support, can grow to be the big things of tomorrow. The Millennium Fellowship will help me develop my skills as a future leader, connect me with others who are also passionate about relevant social issues, and overall, help me become someone who can leave a tangible and practical imprint in helping achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and UNAI principles.” "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Improving Livelihoods Of Cocoa Farmers

In most developing countries, including in Côte d'Ivoire, farmers form a core part of both the population and the economy. Despite the economic gains experienced by these nations, the living standards of these farmers often lag behind. Through my project, I aim to deal with this issue, specifically with cocoa farmers in Côte d’Ivoire. My goal is to get Ivorian cocoa farmers to on one hand, adopt ethical and sustainable farming practices that can improve their yields and on the other hand, ensure all of their products are traceable, certified and that these farmers receive a proper living income through measures like price premiums.

About the Millennium Fellow

After spending time in rural regions across the Global South and building off his own agricultural backgrounds, Anannyabrata developed a passion for helping the rural population and others in lower socio-economic strata, within developing nations. He plans on developing prior projects and making a significant contribution in the field of global development.
