Millennium Fellowship Project: Sanctuary Beyond War

Sanctuary Beyond War is a project committed to safeguarding displaced civilians, refugees, and migrants while advocating for stricter regulations on weapon use in armed conflicts. With a mission to promote disarmament and peacebuilding both in the United States and globally, the project focuses on impactful organizing, education, and legislative advocacy. Sanctuary Beyond War strives to engage and empower youth on issues of disarmament, displacement, and the rights of refugees and migrants.

About the Millennium Fellow

Jonathan Lam (he/him) is a sophomore at Cornell University studying Industrial and Labor Relations with a double minor in International Relations and Migration Studies. As a child of Vietnamese Refugees, Jonathan is an emerging human rights defender who's heavily active in activism work both on and off campus such as serving on eboard for Cornell ACLU, Cornell University Parole Initiative, Cornell Anti-Detention and Cornell Homelessness Action Project. Off campus, he is a national youth leader with Amnesty International USA, New York Civil Liberties Union, RFK Human Rights, March For Our Lives and Team Enough. Jonathan activism work has been highlighted by ABC News, NBC News, Chalkbeat NY, NAACP NY, Queens News Source and Cornell Daily Sun. Jonathan aspires to become an immigration or international human rights lawyer.
