" "As a Millennium Fellow, I'm excited to collaborate with like-minded individuals who are equally passionate about driving positive change. I do this work because I believe in the power of collective action to create lasting change. Empowering women through employment not only transforms lives but also strengthens communities and fuels sustainable economic growth. Together, we can create a more equitable world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: EmpowerLink
"EmpowerLink" is an initiative aimed at addressing high unemployment rates among women in rural Bangladesh, driven by socio-economic barriers and cultural norms. Launched by the online platforms Hommy and Yolo, EmpowerLink empowers women by providing skills training in digital literacy, design, marketing, and customer service, specifically for the growing e-commerce sector in sustainable fashion and décor.
Through partnerships with local artisans, EmpowerLink promotes traditional craftsmanship while creating eco-friendly products. The initiative also builds a supportive community network by collaborating with local NGOs and women’s organizations, offering mentorship and resources for long-term success.
EmpowerLink’s key achievements include training over 30 women, creating 100 eco-friendly products, launching an e-commerce platform to showcase women-made goods, and raising awareness through marketing campaigns. The initiative aims to expand its reach, foster economic growth, and empower women to become financially independent, contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable economy in Bangladesh.
