" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it aligns with my mission to create a more inclusive and sustainable world. Through my work with Pink Legal Ibtida, I am committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly gender equality, quality education, and good health and well-being. I believe that by changing our habits and amplifying our actions, we can drive meaningful change. The Millennium Fellowship offers the opportunity to collaborate with passionate changemakers and mentors, share innovative ideas, and collectively work towards a future where everyone has equal opportunities and the environment is protected for generations to come. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Ibtida
Pink Legal Ibtida, an initiative under the umbrella organisation Pink Legal, an organisation committed to advancing the social and legal rights of women, PLC (Pink Legal Club) Ibtida addresses critical social issues often neglected in public discourse. Through various educational and community-centred projects, we are transforming lives by empowering young women, schoolchildren, and underprivileged communities with essential knowledge on topics such as menstruation hygiene, cyber safety, child safety, and career guidance.
Our specifc Millennium project, “Periods: Naam Toh Suna Hoga?”, focuses on addressing menstrual health and hygiene while incorporating innovative research on the intersection of mental and menstrual health. We recognized that menstrual health goes beyond physical well-being and is deeply connected to mental health, particularly in women from marginalized sectors. Through interactive awareness sessions and distribution drives, we directly reached over 530 girls and distributed over 1,020 sanitary napkin packets.
Our work is rooted in the belief that education is not just about sharing information; it’s about empowerment. Every workshop, awareness drive, and event we organise aims to provide individuals with the tools and confidence to advocate for themselves. From addressing taboos surrounding menstruation to educating communities on safe online behaviour, our team ensures that these topics are discussed openly and respectfully.
