Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Uthaan

The Project Uthaan is an initiative focused on addressing the challenges faced by underprivileged and abandoned elderly individuals in India, who often endure isolation, neglect, and a lack of basic dignity. The project aims to restore hope and dignity to these vulnerable members of society by providing support through community-driven solutions, policy evaluations, and advocating for legal reforms. Activities include conducting interviews to better understand their emotional, social, and physical struggles, collaborating with local stores to market handcrafted products made by the elderly, and leveraging social media to raise awareness and foster economic empowerment. By creating avenues for involvement and economic independence, Project Uthaan seeks to reintegrate elderly individuals into society with a renewed sense of purpose. Drawing upon leadership skills developed during the Millennium Fellowship, this initiative aspires to not only address immediate needs but also inspire long-term social change by promoting respect, compassion, and care for the elderly in our communities.
