" "Education through art and storytelling has the power to transform society by nurturing empathy and creativity. As a Millennium Fellow, I am excited to collaborate with like-minded individuals and amplify my impact on alternative education. This fellowship will equip me with the tools to align my work with the UNAI principles and SDGs, particularly in creating more inclusive and innovative learning environments. Together, we can inspire change and build a world where every child's potential is realized." "

About the Millennium Fellow
Shreeja is a passionate psychology student at Delhi University, born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. With a interest in education through art and storytelling, Shreeja believes in the power of creative expression to foster a better society. Since high school, Shreeja has been involved in theatre and took on the task of teaching primary school subjects to the children of laborers, a commitment that reflects a strong dedication to social upliftment.
Professionally engaged in theatre since high school, Shreeja has been part of production called Totto Chan that delve into alternative schooling methods, drawing inspiration from the life story of Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, a Japanese actress, and author who is also a UN ambassador. Tetsuko's book, "Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window," chronicles her experiences at Tomoe Gakuen, a school that embraced innovative teaching practices through theatre and nature. Inspired by her story and Tomoe, Shreeja seeks to integrate these approaches into her own work, believing that education can be enriched by creative and immersive methods.
Looking forward, Shreeja aspires to contribute to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of quality education (Goal 4) and reduced inequalities (Goal 10). By merging the arts with education, Shreeja envisions a future where every child has access to a holistic learning environment that nurtures both their intellect and creativity, ultimately shaping a more equitable and empathetic world.
