" "Critical thinking , on-field problem solving and devising solutions to issues that negatively impact the planet and its people, that's what Milllenium Fellowship offers to me. Not only will this fellowship hone my leadership skills but it'll connect me with other like-minded individuals who like me wish to create a positive change." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Rooting it Out

My project focused on understanding the prevalence of gender inequality amongst the urban educated milieu. Despite knowing about gender inequality and how it negatively impacts the society , people continue to perpetuate the biases. My main aim to true understand the depth of patriarchial conditioning in my target audience and based on that devise ways to thaw that conditioning and make people truly bring about social change. This was done by asking self reflecting and situation based questions and the result for the interviews I have done till now leaned towards the positive side.

About the Millennium Fellow

Varisha Sharma is a bright and innovative political science student studying in Miranda House, University of Delhi. A strong-willed girl, she's been involved in heading various actvities and events at her school and now at college . Varisha took an interest in studying political science in class 9 when she discovered the multiple paths it opens when it comes to career opportunties. As someone driven by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a desire to change and leave a positive impact in the world , she felt that this field was best suited for her. Currently whilst studying in college, she's involved in volunteer activities that aim at helping the underpriveleged section of the society. In the future , she wishes to work on gender related issues as she herself has suffered dicrimination and she manifests a world where other young girls like her don't have to face it. Varisha is also very interested in the cultural heritage of countries all over the world and loves meeting new people, especially those who hail from a different culture.
