" “Sustainability creates a way for people to help the environment with the hustle and bustle of their daily life still going on. You don’t need to be in a Sustainability profession or major in order to do your part to help deal with world crises. Sustainability awareness and practice are the bridge between thinking about change, and making change actually happen. The Millennium Fellowship provides a strong foundation to build the bridge on. I’m looking forward to learning about others’ projects, and becoming better at developing my own.” "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Green Project
I want to provide a space for students to talk about climate change, while improving their English skills. Each week we speak about how different fields relate to Climate Change, and how we can improve our campus. The initiative provides a space for students to bring up sustainable issues on campus, while also learning more about climate change. Being vocal is step one, so that more can take place in the future.
About the Millennium Fellow
Anna Galvin is an effervescent world-traveler studying Environmental Science, Public Policy and Chinese at Duke Kunshan University. In high school she got more acquainted with social sustainability by coaching ESL students with English and then analyzing the local transportation and agriculture. She has been able to continue at university by teaching English to children at an under-resourced school, aligning her work with the UN's goals of Quality Education (#4) and Reduced Inequalities (#10). She aspires to work in diplomacy. But for now she wants to make the small things make big impacts.
