" “The love I have for my hometown inspired me to start my work, and the Millennium Fellowship gives me a chance to connect with the global community. Together with my peers, I hope to make greater impacts in the community and portray a better future for all.” "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Tales from Watertown: Water, Community, Health

Aligned with SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, my initiative addresses the pressing issue of water pollution and eutrophication in Suzhou, a city renowned for its scenic rivers and lakes. Decades of industrial and agricultural expansion have severely impacted local water quality, compromising both the environment and community well-being. This project aims to tackle the issue through three key steps: compiling water quality data, raising community awareness, and fostering collective action. By engaging the community in stewardship of their waterways, this initiative aims to restore water resources for the future. Through these steps, my initiative seeks to inspire local engagement and collective responsibility, building a sustainable future where water becomes a respected part of the community again.
