Millennium Fellowship Project: Farm The Future

Farm the Future is a project that seeks to transform agriculture by embracing
sustainable, eco-friendly practices like hydroponics, aquaponics, and improved waste
management systems. The initiative is deeply committed to aligning with SDG 4: Quality Education, offering easily accessible learning materials such as manuals, e-
manuals, videos, and podcasts. These resources provide practical knowledge to help farmers and communities adopt more sustainable agricultural practices.
The project also reflects the values of UNAI Principle No. 9: Sustainability, advocating for responsible farming methods that meet the global need for sustainable food production. By focusing on community engagement and lifelong learning, "Farm the Future" fosters a shared knowledge base that benefits local communities and the broader environment. The goal is to empower a new generation with the skills and insight necessary for sustainable development. By doing so, it not only advances agricultural education but also helps address future food security challenges.

Heran Mekonnen Gebrewahid is a young passionate and dedicated student towards her studies and goals in life studying Agricultural Engineering at EARTH University in Costa Rica. She was born in the Tigray region of Ethiopia a place which was repeatedly affected by war, but she always found a way to achieve her dreams and meet her goals even while living among all the odds. Being from that part of region in her country, made her passionate and thrive to bring opportunities for young women and girls like her and help them get education and accomplish her dreams as well. She would always say I am where I am today because of my hard work and people who helped me, and I am sure there is also a young girl out there just like me and that is why I should always go back and give a hand like I have received one. Heran is not only an Agricultural Engineering student but also a student who studied Entrepreneurship in Emerging economies at Aspire Institute, Harvard University and a lot more courses trying to be the better version of who she was from yesterday and create opportunities for the young students like her back in her region and country.
