" I am driven by a deep commitment to enhancing Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for teenagers, as I believe that empowering youth in this area is crucial for achieving global health goals. Being a Millennium Fellow excites me because it will provide me with the skills, network, and mentorship needed to expand my advocacy efforts beyond Kenya, helping to shape a generation that is informed, responsible, and proactive in safeguarding their health and well-being, thereby advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Mental, Sexual and Reproductive Health

The Mental, Sexual, and Reproductive Health initiative addresses critical issues affecting young people, including poor mental health, sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), and the consequences of societal stigma. Launched in 2022, the project aims to mitigate the mental health and SRHR challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly among teenagers and young adults in Kenya.
Through training, community outreach, and education, the initiative seeks to dismantle harmful cultural practices, prevent teenage pregnancies, promote menstrual hygiene, and support mental well-being. By empowering university students to become peer educators, who then work within their home communities, the initiative fosters lasting social impact by creating informed, empowered, and healthier youth populations.
