" Millennium Fellowship offers the chance to actualize my plans of promoting the Seventeen sustainable development goals as outlined by the United Nations. The fellowship also provides me with a chance to network with fellow youths who share the same goal. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: A Brighter And Greener Society

A BRIGHaTER AND GREENER SOCIETY The project’s main aim was to educate the members of the society on how to take care of the environment especially by adopting climate smart agriculture.
To successfully ensure they understood I organized for an event to advocate for conservation. I named the event “Conversation on Conservation” The event was held in a restaurant near Egerton university. The larger percentage of attendees were youths especially students of Egerton university and the others were members of the society; farmers who were there to learn new skills that they can adopt in their farms.
To ensure the event was successful I reached out to my colleague poets and we presented poems and spoken words that were educative in an entertaining way. The members present really enjoyed the performances and their comments were warm and encouraging.
Pardon me for getting carried away that I jumped to the activities instead of painting a clear picture of the event. The event kicked off at exactly 10:00 A.M East African Time. The members were introduced to the organizing team and the program of the day was shared. At exactly 10:40 the first presenter Stanley Mwaniki shared on climate smart techniques of farming. The interested attendees were given a chance to see the samples and ask any questions they had. After this one of our poets performed a spoken word titled “One for all; One for three” the piece was urging the society to practice afforestation and to plant more trees for a better society.
Our second speaker took the podium and he talked of carbon and how not all trees can help fight climate change. Members were surprised but he explained the statement then opened the floor for a questions and answer session. After this we got to the presentations and the poets really stepped up and did their best and the audience was mesmerized but their creativity and compelling emotions.
The members were given a few minutes to interact and later on I gave my speech and poem presentation and the meeting was adjourned.
