" Diseases, pollution and general climate change issues that have been caused by plastic waste injection into the environment has made me very worrisome of the world we are leaving for the generations to come.
For this reason, I have decided to join team MCN so as to further my dream of ending plastic pollution. I also know that through Team MCN, I'll get a chance to partner with colleagues and friends from all over the world whom I share similar ambitions with "

Millennium Fellowship Project: REDUCING PLASTIC WASTE IN KENYA

I suggest that the government give plastic materials monetary value, similar to scrap metal. The government can coordinate with retailers and local shops to pay people who collect plastic waste and bring it to them. The materials can then be recycled or repurposed to create other products.
Additionally, I would advise the government to implement a levy on plastic materials. For instance, if I buy bread wrapped in a paper bag, the next time I go to buy bread, I should either purchase it at the normal price if I bring my own bread bag, or pay an extra amount if I require a new bag.
Furthermore, I propose that the government establish a "Giving Back to the Community Day" or an "Environmental Awareness Day" in the school curriculum. On this day, students from primary, secondary, and university levels would go to the streets to raise awareness about the impact of plastic waste on the environment. The students could also lead efforts to collect litter and use their creativity to repurpose plastic for beneficial purposes.
