Millennium Fellowship Project: AMR Management Tool For Primary Healthcare Enhancement

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a significant global health challenge primarily fueled by the overuse and misuse of antibiotics. This issue poses a severe threat to the effective treatment of infections, particularly in developing countries like Kenya, where healthcare systems are often strained. Primary healthcare (PHC) systems, as the primary point of patient care, are essential in managing antibiotic prescriptions and educating the public on the dangers of AMR. However, limited resources and a lack of accessible digital tools hinder their ability to do so effectively. Addressing these gaps, this project proposes the development of an Integrated AMR Management Mobile App, targeting various stakeholders, including healthcare workers, regulators, pharmacies, and the general public, to collectively combat AMR.
