" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it gives me the opportunity to merge my love for creativity with my passion for environmental awareness. Through education and action, I believe we can inspire others to protect our oceans and marine life, ensuring a future where sustainability is the norm, not the exception—something essential, not something everyone ignores. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Rutas Sostenibles

Our project was divided into two phases, the first was a set of virtual talks related to
sustainable construction, it lasted two hours and the presentations were led by 4
professionals in the area. The second phase of the project was the donation of various school supplies such as books, pencils and erasers to an organization of our university, in charge of delivering them to the García Moreno commune in December.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ashley Moncada is a young student at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) in Ecuador. From an early age, she has shown a deep interest in the environment, which has led her to become involved in various activities related to nature conservation. Throughout her life, she has actively participated in community clean-ups, environmental surveys, and small local initiatives, always with a focus on sustainability and conservation.
A fervent advocate for animals and plants, Ashley devotes much of her time to promoting the importance of protecting ecosystems. She is particularly concerned with the well-being of every living being, especially regarding issues such as water conservation, ocean pollution, and the protection of marine species. Her commitment also drives her to give talks to children, teaching them from a young age about the importance of caring for the planet and its natural resources.
Her passion for the environment is reflected not only in her academic work but also in her daily life. Ashley is characterized by her perseverance and determination. When she identifies an opportunity, she doesn’t hesitate to take it. If she faces obstacles, she doesn’t give up; instead, she views them as challenges to overcome, and if something doesn’t work on the first try, she keeps trying until she succeeds.
Her tireless effort to make a difference highlights her as a dedicated and committed person, always seeking ways to contribute to a more sustainable world.
