" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because I am passionate about driving positive change and making a difference in my community. My work is guided by the belief that collective efforts and innovative solutions can address pressing issues and create lasting impact. My work is driven by the belief that every individual has the potential to effect change when given the right support and resources. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Taleem e Dukhtar

Taleem-e-Dukhtar ("Education of the Daughter") is a community initiative aimed at empowering marginalized young girls in Pakistan by educating them about their fundamental rights and equipping them with emotional regulation skills. The project engages students aged 12–18 and their teachers through interactive workshops. These sessions focus on fostering self-awareness, confidence, and resilience while training educators to sustain the program's impact within schools.
By addressing critical gaps in rights awareness and emotional well-being, Taleem-e-Dukhtar seeks to inspire a generation of young girls to overcome societal barriers, advocate for their rights, and lead positive change in their communities.

About the Millennium Fellow

Alveena Ahmad is an outspoken, dedicated, and hardworking student of sociology and political science at Forman Christian College. She was born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan and is currently pursuing her studies there as well. From an early age, she has felt a strong sense of justice and the need to advocate for change when she encountered elements in society that appeared unfair, but were upheld in society regardless. Over time, this empathy has translated into the extensive work she has done with and for various NGOs working to uplift marginalized communities. In the future, she aims to focus her efforts into empowering underprivileged women and children within and, if possible, outside her city, specifically through educational endeavours keeping with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
