United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Academic Freedom and Limitless Education

My project aimed to study how limitations on academic Freedom have impacted education. More specifically by examining the effects of diminished attention on African and African diasporica programs and ther impact on the social dynamics of black students.

About the Millennium Fellow

Desiree Dawson is in her last year at Florida International University, pursuing a degree in International Relations with a certificate in Latin and Caribbean Studies. Originally from Orlando, Florida, Desiree moved to Miami for college. Her interest in social justice was sparked in middle school during her first protest on students' rights. She continues her activism through various platforms and aims to research marginalized communities and amplify their voices in her future career.
