United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Green Future: Climate Change Awareness and Tree Planting

The "Green Future" project is an initiative aimed at addressing the pressing issue of climate change through a comprehensive strategy that combines education, community involvement, and reforestation. Launched in the Moyiba community of Freetown, Sierra Leone, this project targets secondary and university students, teachers, and residents, encouraging diverse participation to foster a collective response to environmental challenges.

About the Millennium Fellow

Alpha Conteh is a zealous gender equality and climate change activist and a gender student at Fourah Bay College.
He was born in the northern region of Sierra Leone,a current year two student pursuing Gender and Development studies at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, Freetown. A truly local and global catalyst for change.
For as long as he could recalled,Alpha Conteh has always being passionate about his desire for gender equality and climate action.His commitment to gender equality and climate action is testament to Alpha's experience at both national and international community for his continuous dedication to promote change.
Throughout his high school days till date,he has successfully champion series of humanitarian projects and social justice movements: through his illustrious leadership,he plans to continue in the future. Alpha aspires to be in a professional field where he can cultivate these advocacies further and provide his own in the development of the United Nations Sustainable Goals (SDG'S).
