Growing up in an under resourced community, I discovered my passion for science later than others, but I believe every child deserves the chance to explore their intrests early on. As a Millennium Fellow, I am excited to empower underserved communities, fostering curiosity and innovation that will shape a brighter, more inclusive future." "

About the Millennium Fellow

Arya Akbarshahi is an undergraduate student at the Georgia Intsitute of Technology from Cumming, Georgia, with a deep passion for STEM education and cancer immunology research. Growing up in Metro-Atlanta, Arya attended a Title 1 elementary school, which serves a high percentage of students from low-income families and laced sufficient resources for educational enrichment opportunities. This experience highlighted the educational inequities that inspired Arya to found Project Ambitious Futures, an organization dedicated to empowering underserved students through engaging STEM opportunities. Motivated by his personal experiences and a commitment to social impact, Arya aspires to pursue an MD/PhD in immunology, aiming to develop innovative cancer treatments and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable future.
