Georgia Institute of Technology | Georgia, United States | Advancing SDG 1, SDG 2, SDG 3, SDG 11 & UNAI 1

" I am committed to raising awarenesss about issues that people deal with quietly and are generally considered "normal". It is important to spread the word about these topics and start initiatives to start solving these problems. Homlessness is not a fact of life - there are things everday people can do to help. Millennium Fellowship will allow me to collaborate with a group of like-minded people, thus accelerating my progress towards this goal. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Improving The Conditions Of Impoverished Communities
We are focused on improving access to resources in the impoverished population in Atlanta. We have done this by partnering with local nonprofits serving these populations to set up volunteer opportunities for GT students, including shelter building, supply handout in local encampments, and afterschool volunteering! We also have made efforts to raise money for a shower bus that we plan to build next semester, and collected donations via a food drive.
About the Millennium Fellow
Jennah Walcott is an ambitious young woman studying biomedical engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, with aspirations to pursue an MD/PhD after graduation. She is committed to improving the condition underrepresented populations; she has started an initiative to increase access to menstrual products on campus with three friends, encourages women to pursue careers in STEM with the Women’s Recruitment Team, and recently applied for a Fulbright scholarship to raise awareness about sexual healthcare barriers. She plans to bring this energy to her MCN project and looks forward to advancing these initiatives these semester.
