" I am thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow because it provides an opportunity to connect with a global network of changemakers who share my passion for sustainability and healthcare equity. My work is driven by a deep commitment to creating innovative solutions that empower communities, inspired by my grandfather’s sustainable farming practices and my desire to make health technologies accessible to all. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: NeuroGardens

The goal of my project, Puzzle Making and Gardening for Memory Restoration in Alzheimer’s, is to support memory retention in individuals with neurological disorders, especially those affected by stress and Alzheimer’s. It blends aspects of neuroscience and engineering with a tangible social impact. Growing up, my mom always used gardening and puzzles to alleviate stress and her symptoms of depression. These two activities will be the centerpieces of my nonprofit: raising funds for gardens at hospitals and community areas in addition to generating puzzle donations from participating families. At Georgia Tech, after engaging in research that proved the linkage between stress and neurodegeneration, I became inspired to create a project that is both fun and out of the box to relieve stress within my community. I chose puzzle recycling because of how personally meaningful the activity was to me and my family, in particular my mom, who found mental resilience in the activity. Looking ahead to expand this project further, I would like to conduct research on and engineer types of puzzles that will be best for relieving stress and memory enhancement.
