Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Aavsar
Our project, Aavsar, strives to achieve quality education for girls and promote gender equality by addressing menstrual hygiene and ensuring the availability of necessary products. The initiative focuses on preventing girls from missing school or dropping out due to a lack of emotional and practical support during menstruation. The project is built around the "4 A's": 1. Acceptance – Encouraging society to view menstruation not as a taboo but as a natural biological process, while fostering a supportive environment for girls during this time. 2. Awareness– Promoting safe menstrual practices by educating girls about hygienic and reliable menstrual products. 3. Accessibility – Ensuring that menstrual hygiene products and emotional support are readily available to prevent interruptions in education. 4. Affordability– Making these products and initiatives economically sustainable to facilitate long-term implementation.
About the Millennium Fellow
Anusha Ratna is a third-year B.A. LL.B. student at Gujarat National Law University, having keen interest in various fields of law including Alternate Dispute Resolution, International Humantarian Law, Constitutional Law and Administrative Law. In her free time, she's a poet and a plant enthusiast.
