This fellowship will help me to contribute meaningfully to empower the marginalized, Indigenous, and underprivileged sections of the society and I am looking forward for the knowledge, wisdom and learnings by being a part of this fellowship. Millennium Fellowship Project: Fostering Female Leadership - NETRUTVA

Balika Panchayat is the initiative taken by GNLU students in the village of Koba in order to promote goal 5 and 10. This project looked into the root problem of underrepresentation of women in the policy formation. Thus leading to an void between the real problem faced by women and policies made to solve them. By choosing an representative from the younger generation of women, they have increased their say and representation in the policy formation. This particular initiative has helped the women to easily keep their issues and problems in front of the society without any hesitation. This initiative has also enhanced the confidence and decision making power of women in the society.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ritika Salam is an enthusiastic, ambitious and unique law student with a lot of potentials currently pursuing her under-graduate integrated law course (Bachelor of Social Work and Law(B.S.W-LL.B) from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhingar in India. Her personal life experiences, upbringing and internships have shaped her interest in tribal rights, woman and child rights as well as human rights. In her own campus she has always endeavored to assist in activities and efforts that are directly or indirectly related to her areas of interest. Ritika aspires to meaningfully contribute to her interest areas and try out new things to widen her knowledge horizon that will help in bringing a positive change in society, especially for the marginalized and underprivileged sections of the society.
