" All I have ever wanted is see need and do something thus my passion, my desire and
sensitivity to promote the welfare of my community drives me to speak up where I
need to, to interact, share my knowledge and experiences.. It's costs me nothing but
brings me joy and satisfaction to make my mark towards a better world with my prime
question "what can I do" to prevent, promote and restore in line with SDG3: Good
health and wellbeing. Millennium Fellowship is opportunity to listen and learn, to realize
my passion, to do something and consolidate as I'm committed to take action and
making a positive impact on my university, the community, small business owners,
even to lower education Institutions around thereby acting locally and impacting
globally with my fellows at it too! Aligned with UNAI principles and SDGs this is why I'm
thrilled to be part of the Millennium Fellowship to indeed increase my anticipatory "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Teach-Each

The “Teach-Each” project, led by Millennium fellows of Gulu university, aims to empower pupils holistically by focusing on health knowledge, career guidance, and environmental conservation. During this phase, we engaged over 300 pupils at Manuel Junior School, impacting their knowledge on personal hygiene, lifestyle habits to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and environmental stewardship. Key activities included health seminars, career talks, and tree planting. Four trees were planted as a symbolic and practical step toward environmental conservation. With minimal challenges, the project successfully achieved its objectives, and plans are underway to extend its reach to other schools in the community.

About the Millennium Fellow

I am Desire Sylvia Angwech an altruistic, compassionate, very empathetic and an
assertive human pursuing a bachelor's degree in Public health at Gulu university,
Uganda. I was born and raised in Kampala Uganda but now stay in Gulu due to my
academic pursuits. I have always had a strong sense of understanding for any need
especially if there's something I can do however small or big thus social impact has
always been personal to me. Looking at the few Ugandan districts I have been in, one
thing is certain there's always need with the so many knowledge gaps, ignorance,
rigidity and misconceptions. Being a public health student, day in and out I'm
presented with more tools to counter this because against so many things, social
action is the best weapon we have right now even with things we can not bring about
individually. When someone says social impact, three things which I'm very passionate
about come to mind... prevention, promotion and restoration in line with SDG3: Good
health and wellbeing. I'm constantly asking myself one question "so, what can I do?"
as realization of my passion is on me where I'm to start from Local roots to global
reach. This is one of the major reasons as to why I'm enthusiastic to be part this
millennium global community working towards global progress and a better world!
Thank you.
