Millennium Fellowship Project: Breastfeeding Awareness and Practice
Breastfeeding Awareness and Practice covers the aspects like; knowledge of reproductive age women as well as males about the importance of breastfeeding the child, correct latching way (for mothers), its benefits, its disasters if it has not done, nipple healing. Team BAP (Breastfeeding Awareness and Practice) has conducted awareness and practice sessions in Shifa rotary clinic where expectant women came for their prenatal care visits, given them information verbally (on benefits of breastfeeding, latching ways, nipples healing, appropriate diet during lactation period) as well as by demonstrating them the correct latching steps, showed them pictures, distributed the broushers (where all the information and infographics on the relevant aspects were placed) among them, sticked the relevant posters on the walls of clinic. Team also visited another hospital names as Federal General Hospital where they distributed broushers and guided the women there on the different aspects of breastfeeding. In beginning of awareness and practice sessions, team has conducted hands-up activity with audience on their prior knowledge and practice of breastfeeding and noted the number of women who were aware as well as women who were not aware, after giving them the session team has done this activity again to check if their knowledge increased or not, and they saw success of the session as the number of aware women got increased, as those women who were not having knowledge on breastfeeding aspects had successfully got the knowledge and understood the importance and correct ways. Also, team BAP has send online the relevant broushers to both reproductive age males and females so that they would get information regarding importance and correct ways of breastfeeding and its other aspects.
