" Motivated by the need to make education accessible to all especially the underprivileged, I seek to make university enrollment for all the less fortunate, a reality.In my quest, the Millennium Fellowship will assist me purse this noble cause with instrument of the UNAI principles / SDGs.The intention to share ideas with like-minded people develops a capacity to instill change in the education sector and improve the lives of the less fortunate. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Bara Naam Banao
"Bara Naam Banao" (Make a Big Name for Yourself) aimed to inspire underprivileged students in Pakistan to pursue higher education. The project addressed the gap between primary/secondary education and tertiary education, emphasizing the importance of breaking the cycle of poverty through higher education. As part of the Millennium Fellowship, the team conducted physical sessions at two schools: Indus School and Little Master School, interacting with 8th and 10th graders. They focused on motivating students to envision a brighter future through education, highlighting its financial and societal benefits.
About the Millennium Fellow
Laiba Ehsan is a passionate and very focused undergraduate student at the IBA Karachi, majoring in Economics. From a very young age she has been in the quest of finding the purpose/goal of her life. Finally, back in 2020 she discovered the purpose of her life i. e education equity. Her concern about concerned about why her country isn't progressing the way many other countries led her to discover the purpose of life . After much thought and observation she establised that lack of higher education was keeping her country behind. She wants to make her country progress in terms of not just numbers (like GDP) but in humanitarian terms. She wants a country where access to education is based on competence/merit and not on financial resources. She wants to take her first major step towards her goal by contributing towards UN's Sustainable goals.
