" As a pharmacist-in-training, my top priority is educating patients on the importance of healthcare while ensuring a patient-centered approach in all aspects of care. The Millennium Fellowship presents an invaluable opportunity to refine these skills and offers a platform to learn effective strategies for achieving meaningful and sustainable impact in healthcare. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Initiative for HPV Awareness

The Initiative for HPV Awareness is targeted at spreading an awareness of the Human Papilloma Virus, its mode of transmission, the possible preventive maesures and vaccines available for the virus.
It was observed that most people around me felll into 3 categories regarding the knowledge of HPV. The first group was of people who did not know thw difference between HPV and HIV and the second was of people who had heard it in passing but were not sure of the mode of transmission or were not aware of the vaccine. The last group was of individuals who were aware of the virus, its mode of transmission, preventive measures, available vaccines but were either skeptical about receiving the vaccine,,discouraged by the vaccination schedule or the price.
Thus, the aim became to speak to people about all that concerned the virus and ease their worries about the vaccine;;informing them of public health centres where they could get the vaccine for a lesser cost, informing the officials at the health centre to include and reinforce announcements of a natoin-wide or city-wide free vaccination for ages 9-13. This also included making them aware that the benefits outweigh the risks of not recieving the vaccine or getting tested to know their health status regarding HPV.
