Sustainable Fashion and Creativity Initiative
This initiative is a thoughtfully curated series of events designed to champion sustainable practices in fashion, art, and recycling. Through immersive workshops, creative challenges, and insightful activities, it aims to raise environmental awareness while equipping participants with actionable knowledge and skills to embrace eco-friendly lifestyles.
Target Audience
The initiative is tailored for eco-conscious individuals passionate about embedding sustainability in their daily routines, students and young professionals eager to explore sustainable fashion and creative recycling, artists and designers seeking inspiration to fuse sustainability with creativity, and environment enthusiasts driven to contribute to a greener planet. This dynamic audience shares a common goal: building a sustainable future through creativity and innovation.
Event Highlights
The first event, Care, Wear, and Repair, focused on raising awareness about sustainable fashion and the impact of fast fashion. It featured practical tips on extending wardrobe life, a screening of a documentary that highlighted the consequences of fast fashion, and engaging discussions on sustainable fashion choices. Participants left with a renewed understanding of conscious consumption. The second event, Handmade Paper Workshop, combined recycling with sustainable art. Participants learned the art of creating handmade paper using recycled materials and explored the blend of traditional crafts with modern sustainability techniques. This hands-on activity empowered attendees to creatively repurpose waste while promoting eco-friendly alternatives to conventional paper production. In the third event, Infographic Poster Creation creativity took center stage as participants designed educational posters on themes such as *Sustainable Fashion Tips, Fashion Myths and The Eco-Friendly Fashion Timeline. Using tools like Canva or traditional materials, they crafted visually engaging content to spread awareness about sustainable fashion practices, showcasing their artistic and informative talents. Finally, the Recycling Bingo Challenge gamified sustainability with an interactive Canva Bingo card. Participants completed tasks like DIY eco-friendly crafts and repurposing waste materials, sharing their progress to inspire others. This fun and engaging event encouraged immediate and practical eco-friendly actions, cultivating a proactive recycling culture. Through these thoughtfully designed events, the initiative successfully inspired participants to embrace sustainability and creativity in their everyday lives, leaving a lasting impact on their mindset and actions.

About the Millennium Fellow

Chhavi Singh is a passionate and dedicated B.Tech student in Information Technology at IGDTUW, with a strong interest in sustainable development and software engineering. She has been selected for the HPAIR Virtual Summit and currently serves as the Executive at the Centre for Sustainable Development and Content Head at Instinct Lifestyle Society. A finalist in the Devcation'24 Hackathon with her project EcoSavvy, Chhavi is also a recommended candidate for the Air Force NDA. Her hobbies include reading history, competitive programming, and exploring creative design tools.
