Millennium Fellowship Project: Swayam Shakti
Swayam Shakti is an initiative aimed at empowering acid attack survivors by making them financially and educationally independent. The project focuses on helping survivors overcome psychological trauma, rebuild their confidence, and pursue the life they have always dreamed of. The core activities include: 1. Collaborating with NGOs that share a similar mission. 2. Organizing workshops and psychological therapy sessions with trained professionals. 3. Conducting career counseling to help survivors choose their preferred path. 4. Providing financial support for educational pursuits. 5. Assisting with medical treatments. 6. Helping survivors seek justice by connecting them with legal professionals. The initiative aspires to create a safe and empowering environment where survivors can heal, acquire skills, and regain their identities as strong and self-reliant individuals.
About the Millennium Fellow
Diya Sindhu is a computer science and engineering student at the esteemed Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women in Delhi, India. Diya is a passionate and determined learner who aims to use her technical expertise to advocate for education for all, especially for the underprivileged, and to empower women through skill development and financial independence initiatives. Diya is deeply committed to community welfare, actively participating in various initiatives to uplift those in need. With a vision to leverage her technical skills for global sustainability, Diya believes in the power of technology to drive social change and is dedicated to using her knowledge to create a positive impact on society.
