" As a Millennium Fellow, I'm stoked to unleash my inner activist and champion the cause of LGBTQIA+ rights. This fellowship is a golden ticket to a world of possibilities, where I can dive deep into the legal complexities, dismantle discriminatory structures, and pave the way for a more equitable future. I'm keen to collaborate with fellow rebels and ignite a fire of change, ensuring that every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can live their truth without fear or prejudice. Let's rewrite the rules of the game, one bold step at a time. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Harmony
“Harmony”, a comprehensive platform for LGBTQIA+ students and business professionals in India and beyond, addresses the urgent need for inclusivity and acceptance. India's decriminalisation of homosexuality marked a significant step towards recognising LGBTQIA+ rights. However, many challenges persist, including discrimination in workplaces and campuses, making it difficult for them to access employment opportunities. Currently, there's a lack of resources, opportunities, and support for queer students and professionals. This platform will serve as a safe and inclusive space for queer students to network, connect them with like-minded professionals and outline job listings with LGBTQIA+ friendly companies. It would also facilitate scholarship opportunities targeted specifically for queer students, ensuring they can access quality education. The platform is not limited to just employment opportunities. It would also help in the creation of support groups on college campuses, addressing the mental and emotional well-being of Queer students, creating a safe and inclusive environment. This idea is essential because it promotes inclusivity, respect, and acceptance, starting from educational institutions. It will facilitate dialogue through sensitisation programs and panel discussions between students, professionals, and companies to address LGBTQIA+ issues and workplace inclusivity. It will benefit businesses by enhancing diversity and attracting talent from a broader pool.
About the Millennium Fellow
A passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights, Anshuman Gogoi is pursuing a dual degree in law and business at the Indian Institute of Management Rohtak. Driven by a desire to create a world where all individuals can live freely, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, Anshuman is not afraid to challenge societal norms and speak out for equality. Beyond his social justice endeavours, Anshuman's love of fashion and belief in the power of self-expression through clothing has inspired him to explore the intersection of intellectual property law and fashion design, where creativity meets advocacy for rights and freedoms.
