" As a Millennium Fellow, I'm excited to collaborate with like-minded changemakers who are passionate about creating a sustainable future. I do this work because I believe that empowering small-scale farmers and educating the next generation can lead to transformative progress, not just for individuals but for entire communities. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: EmpowerEd
Project EmpowerEd is an initiative led by a team of 9 students from IIT Madras under the Millennium Fellowship, in collaboration with the Guruji Education Foundation (GEF). Our goal is to expand the SCRATCH coding program across at least 20 schools in Tamilnadu. In today's fast-evolving world, coding is a fundamental skill. SCRATCH, a beginner-friendly programming language, helps students not only learn to code but also fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. By implementing SCRATCH in Tamil Nadu schools, we aim to empower students, particularly economically weaker students, with these vital skills, enhancing their ability to think logically and approach challenges innovatively. We thus aim to close the digital literacy gap, and provide students with future-ready skills.
