" "I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a unique platform to connect with like-minded changemakers, allowing us to collaborate on initiatives that empower youth in Bangladesh. My passion lies in bridging the gap between education and employability, equipping young people with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. Through the Fellowship, I hope to amplify this impact and contribute to building a future where every youth has the tools and opportunities to succeed." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Development of Youth Employability Skills Through Institutionalisation

The project offers Bangladeshi youths the technical and soft skills they need to succeed in cutting-edge fields like data science, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI), thereby addressing the urgent problem of the skills gap in Bangladesh's labour market. Although Bangladesh has made great progress in digital transformation, innovation and economic growth have been stifled by a misalignment between academic education and industrial expectations, which has left many graduates unemployed or underemployed.
This project uses a three-phase strategy to try to close the gap:
1. Updating school and undergraduate curricula to incorporate skills essential to the sector.
2. Delivering practical training through workshops, internships, and skill labs in partnership with academic institutions and business executives.
3. Establishing a framework for skill-based recruitment to match certified graduates with employment openings and guarantee that workforce demands and business needs are in the same line.
The initiative seeks to empower youth, lower unemployment, and promote sustainable economic growth by emphasising practical skills, encouraging industrial collaboration, and resolving rural-urban imbalances.
