" I’m excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a unique platform to collaborate with like-minded peers and drive meaningful change in climate justice and human rights. My passion for these causes fuels my commitment to advocate for a more equitable world, where every voice is heard and every right is upheld. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: EcoJustice Alliance Kenya, Championing Climate Action
This project focuses on empowering communities to actively engage in climate action through tree planting, educational workshops, and advocacy for climate justice. Launched under the Millennium Fellowship, the initiative aligned with SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) to address urgent climate issues by promoting sustainable practices at the community level. On Mazingira Day, we organized a tree-planting event, symbolizing both resilience and a commitment to carbon reduction.
Through workshops, we educated participants on the impact of deforestation, carbon emissions, and the importance of individual and collective responsibility. In parallel, I wrote an article for the 3rd Natural Justice Competition to encourage law students to consider climate advocacy within environmental law, framing climate change as both a legal and human rights issue. The project aimed to foster a culture of environmental stewardship and inspire future legal advocates to address climate challenges, building a foundation for a sustainable and equitable future.
