" safeguarding the effectiveness of medical treatments for generations to come, past unfortunate experiences of people in my inner circle and protecting the present individual lives in the world motivates me to champion against Antimicrobial Resistance. This program would give me a platform to collaborate with passionate peers and experts in order to raise awareness, drive research, and implement strategies that combat this growing threat to global health just as UNAI 9 advocates. I believe that this program would equip me with the much needed project management, leadership and teamwork skills that would enable me kickstart projects that would further better the healthcare sector in my community and the world at large. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: AMR Awareness To Action Program

Our AMR awarenesses to action project is
focused on combating AMR. Antimicrobial
resistance simply refers to when drugs are
misused and antimicrobials in our bodies develop
resistance making diseases incurable or difficult
to treat. The project aims to combat AMR
through the following ways:
Reaching out to health facilities (hospitals,
pharmacies and dispensaries) where we'll mount
posters at their entrances to spread awareness
to people as they come to buy drugs. We'll also
distribute brochures to the facilities so that as
people buy drugs, they receive a brochure along
with it.
We'll host in- campus events like talks to educate
the youth on AMR. We'll also include fun
activities to encourage people to participate.
Furthermore, we'll have friendly competitions on
creative ways of creating AMR awareness and
award outstanding competitors.
Our team of graphic designers would come up
with creative content and posters to reach our
online target audience.
Finally we'll reach out to the community by
visiting busy areas like markets where we'll
spread awareness by the team members having short talks with the members and distributing
brochures.

About the Millennium Fellow

Reuben Ombura is a visionary AMR awareness campaigner that strives to better the global health care by finding solutions to this looming danger. He is a second year pharmacy student who visions to use his education to better the healthcare sector as UNAI 9 advocates. He was born in Kenya and lives in Kenya to date; in pretty tough set ups that has enabled him to improvise and come up with world solutions despite the numerous challenges that may have hindered him from succeeding. His academic prowess, leadership skills, project management and teamwork experiences has enabled him to serve and bring change to the community e.g helping to lead a project that made a huge impact to raise awareness on cholera prevention in the lake Victoria region. He believes that by being a Millennium Fellow, he has got an amazing platform to help bring change to the community in what he stands for in the healthcare sector.
