UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT OMONDI ISAAC, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2024.
Kisii University | Kisii, Kenya | Advancing SDG 3, SDG 17 & UNAI 2

" I am very empathetic to the lives of people who are affected by social life injustices. Having been a victim of social injustice that brought about puzzles of mental health and almost claimed my life, I am scourged seeing my peers going through similar ordeals, and that is why I voluntarily and actively engaged in programs that, in many ways, touch the lives of the people in my former position. Someone saw me going down but instead, she chose to lift me without gender or any prejudice. It is my time to give back. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Mental Health and Anti-Drug Abuse Advocacy Initiative
Mental Health and Anti-Drug Abuse Advocacy Initiative is a deliberate targeting project aimed at advancing the Sustainable Development Goal on Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) and Capacity Building as one of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) principles.
Specifically, the program is curated to de-campaign alcohol and drug use among students while creating awareness of substance use disorders (SUDs) and mental ill- health, which has led to the upsurge of suicidal and homicidal cases within the Kisii campus.
About the Millennium Fellow
Isaac Omondi is an African Kenyan village-bred man who, against all odds and African cultural stereotypes, has become a universal student at one of the prestigious institutions, Kisii University, pursuing a BA in Communication and Media.
Isaac, having been born and bred in a down-at-heel society, is privy to devastating challenges bedevilling his brothers and sisters and is compassionate and always deliberate on matters with prospects to salvage us from all the injustices and skewed systems.
Since he left the village to pursue an education in high school and currently in the University, Isaac has always been at the forefront of seeking an equilibrium playing ground and debunking wrong perceptions about people akin to his background through outstanding leadership and active participation in advocacy for social justice, mental health and youth sobriety.
He is looking forward to a platform of peers and professionals to expedite his ambitions and enable an inclusive broad-based execution of all the missions while immensely contributing to the growth and development of the United Nations' Sustainable Goals.
