Millennium Fellowship Project: Equitable Healthcare Initiative
Recognizing the critical need for healthcare equity, the Equitable Healthcare Initiative is a student-led project aimed at promoting healthcare equity, improving health outcomes, and fostering a supportive campus community at Kampala International University. In partnership with O3 PLUS student association, we enhanced student access to healthcare information, services, and education, with a focus on mental health awareness, sexual reproductive health, and rights.
Key Objectives
1. Improve student access to comprehensive healthcare services and education.
2. Reduce health disparities and promote healthcare equity.
3. Empower students with vital healthcare information and support, including:
- Mental health resources
- Sexual reproductive health and rights
- Early pregnancy prevention
- AIDS prevention and management
4. Encourage education and awareness on these critical health issues, promoting a culture of understanding and support.
Impact
- Reached over 900 students through joint efforts.
- Provided a platform for open discussions on sensitive topics, including mental health, sexual reproductive health, and rights.
- Contributed to a healthier, more supportive campus community.
- Encouraged students to prioritize their physical and mental well-being, seek help when needed, and make informed decisions about their health.

About the Millennium Fellow
Amolo Flavia Patience, a Civil Engineering student at Kampala International University, is a visionary leader passionate about sustainable development and community empowerment. Through initiatives like the Pan Africa Youth Leadership Program, she has developed leadership, advocacy, and community engagement skills. Flavia's commitment to positive change is evident in her diverse roles: journalist, Welfare Secretary, health educator, and innovator in healthcare solutions, showcased at the CAMTech Medhack-a-thon competitions. As a Millennium Fellow, she aims to enhance her leadership skills and collaborate to address global challenges, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, driving lasting impact in education, health, and sustainable development.
