" Becoming a Millennium Fellow means more than just personal growth for me. It's an opportunity to enhance my leadership skills gain valuable insights into my social impact project to subsequently transform my community more and the world as a whole. This Millennium Fellowship will open doors to connect with diverse young change-makers, fostering a collective vision for a better community, Ghana, and the world. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Better Dream Foundation Project (BDFP)
The project focused on climate awareness education, aiming to educate my peers on campus about climate change and sustainable practices. Initially, I planned to extend the outreach to primary schools near campus, but due to school vacations, I was only able to engage university students. Despite this, many students actively adopted sustainable habits, such as recycling and switching from charcoal to LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). Challenges included limited resources, funding constraints, and time management while balancing my internship and project. Virtual sessions provided a space for idea-sharing and alignment with the Fellowship’s goals. While the project had a meaningful impact on campus, expanding to local communities and tracking long-term behavioral change would further enhance its effectiveness.
